Bandwagon is a technique or a psychological theory explaining how individuals choose an opinion or side not in accordance with their own beliefs or values, but with what the general crowd believes and values. Because it is the propensity of humans to not be an outsider, people tend to follow the majority and the new trends. Basically, bandwagon can be explained in one phrase: “Because everyone else is doing it, so should I!"

This picture of "Rosie the Riveter", who is an iconic symbol of the United States during the World War II, symbolizes the strong female workers who labored in factories to produce military equipment and weapons. This poster was widely used by the government in order to persuade women to volunteer for service in factories. This poster idealizes a strong, self-reliant, and charming woman who sacrifices for her country and brings up the idea of patriotism not only for men, but for women as well. This way, women who are not familiar with physical labor will want to enlist for war time services. This poster is targeted towards women, and by using the pronoun "we", it appeals not just to individuals, but to an entire group creating a sense of unity.
